At Kane's Mission, our Values are simple:

We are 100% Volunteer Run

Melissa Harvey

Founder & Board President

Melissa was inspired to found Kane’s Mission while fostering her euth listed Pit mix, Kane, through another rescue. She grew tired and frustrated seeing so many healthy, adoptable dogs being euthanized unjustly. After being laid off during the pandemic, she began the process of making her dream a reality, and in April of 2021 the rescue officially became a 501(c)(3) organization. Kane’s Mission has adopted out over 30 cats and dogs to date and hopes to save many more from rural and high-kill shelters. Melissa and her significant other have 3 dogs: Kane, a Bull Terrier/Pit Mix; Maisy, a Pitsky; and Klaus, a Mini Dachshund.

Jennah Catrone

Volunteer Coordinator

Jennah started rescuing dogs with Halo, a Papichi, found by a friend on Craigslist in December 2010. Jenna has adopted and fostered 11 dogs since Spring of 2017, all in Halo's memory. Her passion was to become a hospice foster, or "fospice". Kane's Mission made that a reality in November of 2023 when Jennah fostered Felix for 6 months. She is currently fostering Lily with Kane's Mission. Fun fact- Jennah has 13 birds,10 of which are rescues! Volunteers are what keep organizations like Kane's prosperous and her Mission is to recruit and retain volunteers that care for the unwanted and unspoken for.

Emily Babcock

Event Coordinator

Emily joined Kane’s Mission after fostering, and then adopting, her newest baby Millie(fka Ruby) from us. Millie had been put on the euthanasia list after a stressful encounter at a crowded shelter. She was overwhelmed by the noise, the chaos, and the fear of an unfamiliar place. Honestly, would you do any better in a scary situation like that? Millie is now living her best life with her parents & fur siblings. This experience inspired Emily to help more dogs like Millie find safe, loving homes.

With a Veterinary Assistant Certificate earned in 2020 and an extensive background in sales and event planning, Emily now combines her skills in sales and events with her passion for animal welfare to help further our mission. For her, it’s not just about saving dogs—it’s about giving each and every one of them the second chance every animal deserves.
