At Kane's Mission, our Values are simple:

We are 100% Volunteer Run

Melissa Harvey

Founder & Board President

Melissa was inspired to found Kane’s Mission while fostering her euth listed Pit mix, Kane, through another rescue. She grew tired and frustrated seeing so many healthy, adoptable dogs being euthanized unjustly. After being laid off during the pandemic, she began the process of making her dream a reality, and in April of 2021 the rescue officially became a 501(c)(3) organization. Kane’s Mission has adopted out over 30 cats and dogs to date and hopes to save many more from rural and high-kill shelters. Melissa and her significant other have 3 dogs: Kane, a Bull Terrier/Pit Mix; Maisy, a Pitsky; and Klaus, a Mini Dachshund.

Daria Iacovone

Adoption Coordinator

Daria has been involved with dog rescues for over the past three years. During this time, she has fostered over 50 dogs. Rescuing has been a huge part of her life, and she is passionate about helping dogs find the loving, forever homes they deserve. Outside of helping with the rescue, she works in medical device sales. Daria and her husband have 3 beautiful dogs and a cat, so their house is always full of love, chaos, and plenty of furry friends!

Rachel

Event & Volunteer Coordinator

Lily

Foster Coordinator

Lily was inspired to start volunteering for Kane's Mission when she learned about our involvement at the Auto Show with Subaru. Being a part of the rescue team, she wants to help more dogs find their forever homes. Apart from our rescue, she loves to walk dogs at the shelter and helping foster cats in the winter. During her free time, she enjoys play tennis, swimming, kickball, traveling, gardening, and hiking. Lily has 3 pets at home: a wonderful pup and two cats!

Kaitlyn Gannon

Communications & Social Media Coordinator

Kaitlyn was inspired to volunteer with Kane's Mission in 2024. Ever since then, she helps when she can at different events and is now helping spread the word about our rescue on all of our social media pages. Being a part of the rescue team, she wants to use these social media outlets to get our adoptables in their forever homes and gain more volunteers to help support Kane's Mission. On her free time, she enjoys crocheting, participating in clubs at her university, and walking her pups. Kaitlyn has two pups at home, Gracie and a former Kane's Mission dog, Mr. Brown who are both pit mixes.

And keep going with the help of our dedicated volunteers!
